TOURLESTRANE 4-11 COOLANEY/M'BREENA 0-11

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS, Tourlestrane, took another major step towards regaining their Belfry Senior Championship crown when they brushed aside the challenge of South Sligo neighbours, Coolaney/Mullinabreena at Connolly Park, Collooney, on Saturday.

CM have performed more than adequately in their first year back in the senior ranks but they were no match for the pace and power of a lively Tourlestrane outift.

Two goals in a stunning two minute spell in the first half put the Champions in the driving seat and they never looked back

Brendan Egan opened the scoring with a point after two minutes and Coolaney-Mullinabreena replied with a fine point from Shane O'Brien.

John Quinn, John Kelly and Brian Egan pointed for the winners but Coolaney-Mullinabreena kept in touch with good points from Eoghan O'Dowd and Aidan Coleman.

In the 19th minute the turning point was Tourlestrane's first goal when Shane Dunne scored after a good move involving four players. A minute later Tourlestrane scored a second goal when John Quinn got the final touch after poor defending from Coolaney-Mullinabreena.

Shane O'Brien pointed a free for Coolaney-Mullinabreena but Tourlestrane finished the half strongly with points by John Marren and Brian Egan. They led 2-6 to 0-4 at half-time. Coolaney-Mullinabreena started the second-half well with three points in-a-row from Shane O'Brien, Ray Connolly and Aidan Coleman.

Tourlestrane responded with a third goal in the 37th minute when Alan Dunne finished well from John Kelly's pass. Two more points from Brian Egan put Tourlestrane 10 points ahead, 3-8 to 0-7.

Coolaney-Mullinabreena substitute Kieran Finan scored a point from a free but it was game over when Tourlestrane scored another goal with 15 minutes left. Diarmuid Dunne was the scorer this time and this score was followed by a pointed free from Brian Egan. Tourlestrane then increased their lead with points by full-forward Egan and John Quinn. In the last three minutes Coolaney-Mullinabreena scored three points from Kieran Finan, Darren Coleman and Shane O'Brien to leave the four goals between them.
