Very Well Done to our U16 Hurler Sean Quinn who represented Connacht in the All Ireland Poc Fada FInal held in the Cooley Mountains at the weekend. Sean was a part of history in this the 50th year of the event and completed the 2.5km course in in a remarkable 29 shots to finish 4th in the country. Congrats to our Minor Footballers who defeated Curry by 1-15 to 1-10 to win the Div 2 league last night. A great first half performance paved the way for this success. We now have to travel to Ballymote to play the home team in the Championship on Thursday next.
Our senior hurlers bowed out of the championship on Friday last with a defeat at the hands of Calry despite scoring five goals. Attention now turns to the Martin Brennan Memorial Cup which will be run in August.
THe u12 and Minor Hurlers both have Tubbercurry as opponents this Wednesday the under 12's travel while the minors play hosts to our neighbours,
Our u14 Footballers were gallantly defeated in the A Championship final by a very strong St Mary's team. The concession of an early penalty and a super individual goal did not break their confidence and they fought bravely for the remaining 3/4 of an hour but it was just too big of a hill to climb. This squad have done the club proud as this was their 3 rd County Final in 12 months after the A league final and the Feile Final. Unfortunately we have come up against a very physically strong Mary's team on each occasion. But the team work and heart the lads showed can close that gap if the continue to apply themselves as they have this year.
Congratulations to our Chairman Brendan Leonard who held a very successful Captains Day in Tubbercurry Golf Club on Sunday last.
The club extends Sympathy to Fr Eamonn and Jackie O Hara and the O'Hara family on the Passing of their Mother Ann O'Hara in her Hundreth Year last week. Ar dheis Dé go raibh Sí,
