Our Senior Hurlers travelled to Carrick On Shannon on Saturday last when they took on the Leitrim side, St. Mary's, in round 3 of the Tain League. While the weather was favourable for hurling, the pitch surface was heavy and challenging for both teams. The sides finished the first half level on a scoreline of 1.03 to 0.06 with our goal coming from Niall Durkin, who forced the defender into an error and finished the chance well. Our defenders were well on top in the second half but scoring chances were hard converted and the game finished in a draw on a score of 1.06 to 0.09. Ruairi Brennan was accurate as usual from the placed ball with Patrick Burke and Sean Quinn accurate with scores from play. The panel was Jerome Quinn, Shane Neary, Enda Gallagher, Colm McVeigh, Joe Gallagher, Tom Brennan, Stephen Roddy (Captain), Barry Walsh, Padraig McVeigh, Peadar Leonard, J.P. Lang, Patrick Burke, Niall Durkin, Sean Quinn, Ruaidhri Brennan, Matthew Lang and Diarmuid Brennan.
From the first three fixtures the team have earned one win, one draw and one loss. There is now a break in the club Senior Hurling calendar while the county hurlers play in the National Hurling League.
Best wishes to our club members involved - manager Declan Loughnane and players Tom Brennan, Ruairi Brennan, Patrick Burke, Gavin Feeily and Peadar Leonard.
