Notes :
On very hot days you can still play great football as was proved in a mighty high scoring game this afternoon in Ballymote where the needle hit 25 degrees plus in the Abbott Cup for our Junior game v Ballymote. All the team played out of their skins to hope to seal the win as the teams swapped leads throughout the game. A penalty awarded to each side both converted added to 4 more each and matching points saw them level at the final whistle 5/12 each . Our young leaving cert lads played exceptionally well in their last game before the  exam break Jon Durkin at midfield and Mark Lundy who converted a penalty! Welcome back to Rian Kennedy from his college Erasmus to Missouri and good to see he brought his shooting boots home with him scoring 3 goals and 3 from play and 2 frees. Also to Matthew the New Zealander Lang returned and back in the green and gold again ! Diarmuid Dunne had a class game in a big week all round for him as he is off to marry Andrea next weekend and we wish them well. Great performance lads and we wish a speedy recovery to David O Hara who suffered a knee injury in the game .
Our seniors were out in Curry last night in Kiernan Cup action in evening sunshine and were slow starting and went in trailing 1/3 to Curry’s 8 points and the hosts a man down due a red card offence the mid way point . Curry kicked the first score of the second half but Tourlestrane got their act together and started to come back taking their scores and the game finished 5 points clear when the ref called time. Final score 4/7 to 14 points.
Congratulations to Banada NS girls Cumman na nBunscoil winners on Saturday ! Also to Sligo Hurlers who played Fermanagh in the Lory Meagher Cup and had a great win at the pitch Saturday afternoon . This sees them through to a Croke Park Final !
On Friday night last our girls had their playoff game v St Nathy’s and a massive performance by the team spurred on by 2 great goals each from both Katie Walsh and Nicki Brennan and great team performances all round most especially our younger girls saw us safely through on a scoreline of 5/8 to 3/8 to our very first Senior girls final for the club ! Katie Walsh showed her true commitment to her club and team mates by playing alongside them for this game and had to forgo travelling to Croke Park to collect her award for division 2 Lidl team of the year . Well done Katie !
Congratulations to our club leaving cert students who graduated this week from St Attractas and best wishes for your exams and to our underage club members who made their Confirmation today .
