Notes April 16th
Monday night last our u16 boys had a win against Castleconnor on a score of 4/11 to 3/9 .Tuesday night saw our u12 boys won by 19 scores to 5 against Coolaney/Mullinabreena with 9 different scorers and brilliant defending. There were some fantastic scores from fabulous combination play from back to front. The U16 girls took on St Marys and drew after a very close game on a scoreline of 3/8 each when the final whistle blew.
Our Minors were at home playing Mullinabreena on Thursday night and saw two very closely matched teams battle it out for a win with Tourlestrane coming out on top after 60 minutes to finish 11 points to 8.
Friday night our Senior men played Drumcliff/Rosses Point in Oxfield Park in the first of their 2 league matches of the Easter weekend and that game finished Tourlestrane 1/14 Drumcliff/Rosses Point 1/8.The same time our u12 girls clocked up a good win over in St Farnans on a score of 15 scored to 12. Well done girls.
The next game of the weekend was Easter Sunday when Tourlestrane and St Mary’s seniors took to the field in Tourlestrane and despite St Marys never really seeming to get off the ground some nice football was played. John Marren opened the scoring for the home side with a point and shortly after John Kelly rattled the net after a neat pass in from Niall Egan. Points followed from Brian Egan (frees and from play) John Kelly and Gary Gaughan. Then John Kelly was pulled down in the small square resulting in referee Michael Duffy awarding a penalty. Brian Egan converted it and with one more well taken point from Gary Gaughan left the sides at 2/8 to no score when the half time whistle blew.
The second half saw Tourlestrane take the first score again with a Liam Gaughan point and a point from a free by Brian Egan. This followed by St Mary’s opening their account with 2 points in quick succession .But it was not to be St Mary’s afternoon with 4 more points from Gary Gaughan, Brian Egan, John Marren and Cathal Henry to finish the game at 2/15 to 2 points.
