Well done to Adrian McIntyre, Noel Gaughan, Brian Egan, Stephen Henry, Cathal Henry and the Sligo team and management on their All Ireland 2A Qualifier win over Leitrim on Saturday evening last in Markievicz Park.

Hard luck to Leonie Gaughan, Ellen Bailey, Sarah Cunnie and the Sligo Ladies U-14 team who lost to Leitrim in the All Ireland Final on Friday evening in Boyle. It was a very busy week for the girls and they have done the club proud with their huge achievement of playing two All Ireland Finals in 5 days.

The U-14 girls enjoyed a historic weekend at the All Ireland Feile Finals this year. Travelling to Kanturk on Friday, the girls had a tough challenge against Clonguish in their opening group game and were second best on a score of 6-6 to 3-0. The girls then faced a second challenge in their second group game when they played a strong Kilshannig team, having made a strong come back, the girls lost 2-6 to 4-4. The girls bounced back in the last group game when they beat the host team, Kanturk. Having won this game, the team qualified for the Division 4 Shield Quarter Final. The girls upped their performance once again and scored a 7-8 to 1-2 victory over Glenflesk of Kerry. With the momentum behind them, the girls beat Naomh Eoin of Carlow in the semi final, 4-8 to 1-3 before securing the Feile Divison 4 crown by beating Dromcollogher Broadford of Limerick in the final of the competition. The girls showed great heart, determination and exceptional football skills throughout the Feile campaign and the club are very proud of them on this huge achievement on the All Ireland stage. A massive thank you to Kanturk for their warm welcome, their generous hospitality they showed to all that travelled from Tourlestrane and to the host families who took such great care of the children who stayed in their homes. To BayCare for their sponsorship of the U-14 girls with their Feile trip. A huge thank you and congratulations to all the parents and management who travelled with the girls and made the weekend the special occasion that it was. Thank you to all who greeted the homecoming around the parish and at the pitch.
