The Ladies AGM took place on Saturday evening last in the Hillary Rooms, Banada. The main talking point of this years AGM was to highlight the excellent achievement of our underage girls teams. The U-14 girls winning both league, championship and their outstanding journey in the Feile competition and the U-16 and Minor girls also winning respective titles. Congratulations was extended to a group of girls who featured on the U-14, U-16 and minor team and also to their management of Leo Gaughan, Pat Hegarty and Maureen Walsh.
The club would like to welcome onboard Sharon Hegarty who will be a selector with the U-14 management and to Connie Walsh who will be a selector with the U-12 girls.
The Hurling AGM took place shortly after. The club is asking anyone interested in becoming involved in coaching underage hurling in the club to please contact a committee member or John Lang as there are a high number of talented players coming through the ranks but unfortunately our number of coaches have decreased over the last number of years.
Congratulations to Stephen Roddy who was named Senior Captain for 2016 with last year's captain Peadar Leonard taking the role of Vice Captain. The Senior Hurlers get their season underway on the 6th of February when they compete in the Tain League. The team's first game is a home fixture with Cluainin Iomaint and will throw in at 2pm.
The Club is looking for people within the club to train as referees. If you are interested please contact club chairman, Brendan Leonard before the deadline this Thursday the 28th of January.
Chairman, Brendan Leonard, also reminded the attendees of both AGMs that each trainer/selector/manager with our underage teams must complete the Code of Ethics in Child Protection and there must be at least one coach with each team that has received Award 1 in coaching and training. These rules apply for all managers across all codes of football and hurling. The club is looking into running these training courses.
Colm Corcoran was elected Children's Officer while recently retired Treasurer, David McVeigh was elected Club Health and Wellbeing officer.
Our under age coaching programme for boys and girls had resumed on Thursday
evenings. The nursery programme with Pat Kilcoyne has started and will continue for
U-6s and U-8s every Thursday from 6-7pm in Banada Abbey with U-10 coaching
following from 7-8pm.
The next meeting of the Tourlestrane GAA Development Fundraising Committee takes place on Monday the 8th of February at 8,30pm in the Clubhouse. All welcome. The committee are in final talks about a big upcoming club fundraiser.
With so many teams within our club, the club has set up a Executive Committee to ensure the smooth running of fixtures and training times. The committee is made up of a two Hurling Reps, two Men's Football Reps, two Ladies Reps and an Underage Rep. The Executive Committee are asked to attend monthly meetings as this is where the main discussion of upcoming events will take place. If a Rep cannot make the meeting, could they please ensure somebody goes on their behalf.

Congratulations to John Francis Carr, Cathal Henry, Kenny Gavigan, Oisin Kennedy and the Sligo U-21 team and management on winning the North West Shield when they overcame Fermanagh with a 1 point victory on Saturday last.
Our club bingo at Banada Abbey Hall continues every Tuesday night at 8.30pm. Great opportunity to win next Tuesday when the Jackpot will be €2630 on 56 calls or less, the Snowball has reached €4,000 on 46 calls or less and the Lotto is at €260.
The Club wishes Sligo Senior team and management, especially our club players, Noel Gaughan, Brian Egan and Cathal Henry, the best of luck with upcoming Division 3 league campaign. The team have their first fixture on Sunday the 31st of January when they travel to Clare.
The Club also wishes the Sligo Senior Ladies team and management, especially Katie Walsh, Anna Corcoran and Paddy Henry the best of luck with their upcoming Divison 2 league campaign. The team travel to Meath on Sunday to play their first ever game in this Division.
Best wishes to the St. Attracta's CS Juvenile team and management, especially our club players, who take on Roscommon CBS in the Connacht Final this Friday the 29th of January at the Connacht GAA Centre, Ballyhaunis at 11am.
The BULL Challenge takes place on Saturday the 27th of February on the Banada Abbey grounds with both 6km and 12km routes available. Registration has now opened. For more details visit their Facebook page or check out their website at www.thebullchallenge.com.
