Our Senior men recorded a 1-11 to 1-9 Quarter Final win over Coolera/Strandhill in the Sligo Belfry Senior Championship on Sunday last in Kilcoyne Park, Tubbercurry. The team lead at half time, 1-8 to 0-1, an early goal coming from full forward, Brian Egan. Coolera/Strandhill fought back in the second half but our senior team dug deep and held on to secure a Championship Semi Final date. The team will play neighbours, Curry, in a repeat of last years county semi final. The game will take place on the weekend of the 14th/15th of September. The Junior men's team clocked up 4 points in the group stages of the championship with two wins last week. The team beat Castleconnor 6-25 to 1-5 on Tuesday last and returned to the field on Thursday beating Ballymote 1-15 to 1-5. The team will play the winner of St. John's and Ballymote on the 8th of September in a playoff.
Our Intermediate Ladies game against St. Farnan's was postponed on Sunday. The game will be played this weekend. The team had a good challenge with Western Gaels, Roscommon on Sunday.
The Minor boys team had 3-15 to 0-16 point win over Calry/St. Joseph's on Friday last. The team play St. John's next, in round 5 of the championship, which is set for the 12th of September.
The U-16 team are back in action tonight (Monday) when they take on St. Molaise Gaels in round 5 of the championship. The game takes place in Grange at 7pm.
The U-14 boys team play Shamerock Gaels in Coola at 7pm on Friday.
The U-12 boys team play Coolaney/Mullinabreena in the U-12 B Shield Semi Final on Saturday at 11:30am in Markievicz Park.
Well done to our successful U-12 Hurlers who won county finals last week. In the aftermath of the U-14 Hurlers success, the U-12s stood up to the mark on Tuesday last, beating Calry/St. Joseph's by a single score.
Hard luck to the U-16 team who lost to Easkey on Monday last in their county final.
The U-14 Hurlers are back in another county final following their league win, they team play Easkey on Wednesday at 6.30pm in Markievicz Park. Special word of thanks to John Lang and Gearoid Brennan for their hard work with the underage hurlers in the club.
Congratulations to Conan Marren who represented the club when playing for Sligo U-14 hurlers at the weekend. The team won the All Ireland Shield in a blitz held in Newry, Co. Down.
The U-12 girls football team had two young stars in the past week. Leonie Gaughan, Castlerock NS, played superbly in midfield in Croke Park during the exhibition game at half time between Mayo and Tyrone. Leonie defended well and set up many scores,also contributing a point for Mayo. Off the football field, U-12 player, Claire Hegarty, donated €600 to the Lily Mae Trust Fund. Claire danced at the Tubbercurry Old Fair Day and also at the Siamsa Sraide to raise the funds. Everyone in the club is very proud of the two girls.
