Following our Senior Men's team capturing the Division 1 league title with a 4 point win over St. John's recently, the team have turned their focus to the championship. The fixtures for their group stage game have been confirmed. The team are in Group C and will take on Ballymote in round 1 on the August Bank Holiday weekend, Sunday the 4th of August at 6pm in Bunninadden, the team then have a bye on the weekend of the 10th of August and will play Coolera/Strandhill on the weekend of the 17th of August in the final round of the group stages.
The team started well against St. John's and went into a 6 point lead but a goal by the town side just before the break left the score 0-10 to 1-4 at half time. St.John's battled hard and drew level with 7 minutes left but 4 unanswered points from the men in green and gold sealed the title. John Quinn was top scorer with 7 points. After the match County Board Development Officer presented the Frank Kelly Memorial Cup to Senior Captain Shane Dunne.

Our Minor team return to action following the Leaving Cert. break when they take on neighbours and rivals, Tubbercurry/Cloonacool, in round 1 of the 'A' championship. The game takes place on Monday the 22nd of July in Tubbercurry at 7pm.
Our U-16 boys defeated Easkey in round 2 of the 'A' championship on a scoreline of 2-16 to 2-7. The U-16 team also take on Tubbercurry/Cloonacool in their next competitive game. This game will take place in Tourlestrane on the 5th of August at 7pm.
Pride of the parish this week goes to Tracy O'Hara, our senior ladies player, on receiving the player of the match award in the Connaught Ladies Intermediate final. Congratulations to Tracy, Claire Colleran and the rest of the Sligo Ladies Intermediate team on their 2-15 to 0-5 win over Roscommon on Sunday, retaining their status as Connaught Intermediate Champions.
Our Intermediate ladies team start their championship campaign this weekend when they play Eoghan Rua in round 1. Best wishes to captain Shauna Henry and the rest of the girls in their quest to win the title last won in 2010.
Hard luck to our Senior Hurlers who suffered their second defeat in the Senior Championship when they went down to a stronger Western Gaels team on Sunday last. The final score 5-10 to 0-8 points. The team take on Coolera/Strandhill in a 'must-win' encounter in round 3 of the championship, this Sunday, the 21st of July.
Our Minor Hurlers recorded a great win over Coolera/Strandhill in a close encounter on Saturday last. The lads dug deep in the final quarter of the game and came away with a fine victory, 2-12 to 2-10. The team take on Naomh Eoin at home in round 3 of the championship on Thursday the 25th of July.
Our U-12 Hurlers have a playoff game with Drumcliffe/Rosses Point tomorrow (Tuesday the 16th of July) at 7pm in Tourlestrane.

The Kilmactigue Parish Gathering takes place on the August Bank Holiday (2nd to the 4th) weekend with various events taking place from Parish Concert to the Ultimate Banada Disco for over 18s to a Parish Ball. A great weekend is planned and not to be missed.
